The Benicia Old Town Theatre Group promotes live theater in Benicia by sponsoring two productions per year at the historic B.D.E.S. Hall at 140 West J Street. In existence since 1964, the organization has staged more than 87 plays in 44 years, from the likes of "Blithe Spirit" to 2010's "The Great American Trailer Park Musical."
Special Events
Each July, Benicia Main Street hosts the Benicia Fine Art & Jazz Festival, with the Carquinez Strait as the picturesque backdrop for two days of live performances by top jazz musicians from the Bay Area and around the country. Activities include a juried fine art marketplace, gourmet food, wine and beer, and a kids' art activity area.
Nightlife
Nightlife continues to evolve in Benicia with wine bars, upscale taverns and all types of music that can be found throughout town, including jazz, folk, French, blue grass and rock and roll. Live local entertainment venues such as First Street Café and The Rellik Tavern present locally and regionally known musicians on a weekly basis.
